Freshman Year – Set the Foundation

Freshman year is very important. Freshman year sets the foundation for the rest of the your high school career. Your freshman year grades and extracurricular choices will be on your college application. Academic and extracurricular choices that you make in 9th grade can affect the rest of their high school career. The impressions that you leave on teachers this year can impact your reputation among school faculty. Freshman year is the ideal time to start exploring your high school and future goals.

Our focus is to help you explore academic areas, interests, and personal goals. University Peak helps 9th graders enjoy the exploration process and develop a 4-year plan (which might change as you do!).

Sophomore Year – Build Momentum

Sophomore year is an important year for building momentum. Keep your long-term goals of college admission in mind as you take challenging courses and gain depth in your extracurricular activities throughout the school year and summer. Explore new interests as you learn more about yourself. Sophomore year is also when you can take a trial PSAT and start preparing for the SAT/ACT. There are multiple steps you can take this year that are critical in preparation for college admissions.

Junior year is a very busy time for most students. This year is absolutely critical, because the college preparation process accelerates and you need to start paying careful attention to looming deadlines and application requirements. Junior year is also when you take more rigorous coursework, get involved in more leadership roles, select additional summer activities, and take multiple standardized tests.
